MELBOURNE, Fla.—The Barry University volleyball team lost on the road to Florida Tech in a five sets thriller on Saturday afternoon.

Set one came down to the wire as Florida Tech (19-9, 3-7 SSC)) and Barry were even through much of the match. Early in the set, the Panthers got a small lead at 9-4 and 12-8, but the Bucs (11-8, 3-7 SSC) virtually eliminated it, tying the score at 13-13 with a kill apiece by Julia Ridley, Camilla Pagnan, and Meisje-Sable Burton and a few Panther errors. For the remainder of the set, the Panthers never got more than three points ahead of the Bucs, but won set one 26-24.

Set two played out in a similar fashion, however with the Bucs took the early lead at 9-11, but eventually lost the set 25-23.

Set three was again close throughout. The Bucs and Panthers were even through 8-8. The teams went back and forth, but three late game kills by Danielle Bishop helped the Bucs take a 18-20 lead. The Bucs pushed the lead to 19-23 off of two Tech errors and a Romina Powers kill. From there, the Bucs held on to win 23-25.

Barry again took the early lead in set four, getting out to 10-14 on the Panthers off of 10 combined kills by Pagnan, Bishop, Burton, Powers and Ridley. Samara Ferreira and Lauren Evans helped with an ace apiece. The Panthers pushed back though, tying the game at 18-18. The Bucs held on, with the help of another ace by Evans and one by Libby Walter, to win 24-26.

Set five was once again close through 8-8 as the Panthers had seven kills and the Bucs had five. At this point, Tech pushed out to leads of 10-8 and 13-10. The Bucs fought to hold on, but were ultimately defeated 15-11 in set five.

For the second night in a row, Pagnan, Ridley and Burton each got 10-plus kills apiece, Pagnan with 19, Burton with 11, and Ridley with 14. Walters and Julie Priester combined for 52 assists, while Evans had 31 digs.
