Women's Basketball Stifles Sailfish

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers continued to dominate the second half, erasing a three-point half-time deficit to beat the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 58-48 in women’s basketball action in Rubin Arena on Friday night.

The Buccaneers (3-0) trailed 45-41 with 9:15 left in the second half when they clamped on a full court press and leaped out to a 15-0 run over the next seven minutes to take a 56-45 lead on a runner in the lane by Lucy Martinez at the 2:08 mark. The Sailfish (1-2) turned the ball over five times and went 0-9 from the field over the run.

Martinez and Mariesa Greene each had double-doubles for the Bucs. Martinez scored 11 points and added a career-high 11 assists, while Greene had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Alisha Sanford led the Bucs with 12 points. Brooke Burgess had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Sailfish.

Barry opens up at home on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 5:30 pm against Caldwell.
