LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Barry University women’s basketball team continued their strong start to the season, as they rolled to another victory, 81-69, Friday night against Western State College at the Colorado Christian Thanksgiving Classic.

Seniors Lucy Martinez and Princess Bailey carried the load for the Bucs (5-0), as the two combined for 41 points, with Bailey scoring 21.

The teams remained close throughout most of the first half, until a Bailey jumper at the halfway point helped give Barry a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

WSC (1-4) trimmed the lead to two twice over the final ten minutes, but went into halftime trailing the Bucs by 11 following an 11-5 run over the final four minutes.

Martinez made sure the Bucs would hold on for the victory, as she opened the second frame hitting two three-pointers and tallying 12 points in all in the second half.

Mariesa Greene continued her solid week of basketball, as she followed up her double-double performance from Tuesday night against Caldwell, with 12 points and nine rebounds against the Mountaineers.

Shanna Suttington provided a spark off the bench, as she tallied nine points, six coming in the first half, including a three-point-play to cap the half.

The Bucs will look to remain undefeated as they will play the host team Colorado Christian Saturday night at 6 p.m. to conclude the Thanksgiving Classic.
