MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – After two straight losses, the # 23 ranked Barry University women’s basketball team returned to their winning ways on Wednesday night, beating Lynn University 87-73.

The game was close throughout the opening minutes of the first half as the Bucs and Knights (12-4, 3-2 SSC) were tied at 13-13 with 13:03 left in the first. Minutes later Kristy Singletary hit a three-pointer to give the Bucs a lead they would carry throughout the remainder of the game.

The Bucs (12-4, 3-2 SSC) largest lead in the first half came with 1:41 remaining when Singletary hit another three to go up 16. The Bucs would enter halftime with a 46-32 lead.

In the second half, the Knights would trim the lead to 10 before the Bucs went on an 11-0 scoring streak which included three-pointers by Princess Bailey, Alexandra Henri and Singletary. The Bucs’ largest lead of the night came when Henri hit another three-pointer to give the Bucs a 65-43 lead.

The Knights fought to stay in it, cutting the Bucs’ lead down to nine at one point, but the Bucs were too much, going nine of ten from the charity stripe in the final four minutes of the game.

For the Buccaneers, Bailey and Henri had record-setting nights as both achieved individual marks for points scored in a single game, Bailey with 25 and Henri with 17. Singletary added 19 points, including five-of-seven from three-point land. The Buccaneers also set a school record for three-pointers made in a single game, hitting 15 to break the mark of 12 set in 2000, tied in 2002 and 2007.

The Buccaneers return to action on Saturday afternoon at Rollins at 4 pm.
