MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University men’s basketball team came back nicely in the second half, but Palm Beach Atlantic held on for the 58-53 victory Wednesday night at the Health and Sports Center.

PBA (9-15) began the game strong, as they built a seven-point lead after Hunter Ross hit a three-pointer at the 5:59 mark of the first half.

The Sailfish would built the lead to ten before the Bucs were able to close the half on a strong point after Jamaal Madyun drilled a three-pointer from the corner with five seconds left to trim the lead back to seven.

Barry (8-14) would continue to chip away, as a Karega Tucker trey with 10 minutes to play in the game helped move the Bucs to within four.

Every time the Bucs seemed to make a run, PBA had an answer.

A trey by Ross and a jumper on the fastbreak by Chris Joseph expanded the lead back to nine for the Sailfish with 7:02 to play.

Barry still had one last run left in them, as Erick Nsangou took over with a pair of layups, including a three-point-play at the 1:15 mark to make it a three point spread.

But Joseph followed with a big shot next time down the floor for the Sailfish with the shot clock expiring to put PBA up by five and ahead for good.

Tucker led all scorers with 19 points, while also adding seven rebounds. Willie Whitfield had a monstrous game inside for the Bucs, as he tallied a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Nsangou and Madyun each chipped in with seven points apiece.

Barry will remain home this Saturday as they will jump back into Sunshine State Conference action against Tampa with tipoff set for 4 p.m. at the Health and Sports Center.
