MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Barry University baseball team rallied to defeat St. Thomas, 8-5, Wednesday night.
Yas Gutierrez and Mitch Rodriguez each tallied RBI singles in the first and second innings to help give the Bucs an early 3-1 lead.
St. Thomas (5-15) rallied in the bottom of the third with three runs to tie the game at four.
The Bobcats took the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly to take a 5-4 lead.
Barry tallied all the runs they need in the top of the seventh, as Rodriguez delivered an RBI single and Danny Lima singled home a pair to give the Bucs a 7-5 lead.
T.J. Mullins came on in relief in the sixth to record his first win of the season.
Lima paced the Bucs going 4-for-5 with 3 RBI, while Rodriguez finished with three hits and three runs scored.
Barry will return to action this Friday when they host Lynn in Sunshine State Conference action beginning at 6 p.m.
