MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University baseball team made it a clean sweep against Pace, taking game one 19-8 and 2-1 in the nightcap Saturday afternoon at Feinbloom Field.

Barry (19-2) once again erased an early Pace lead in the bottom of the first, by tailing two runs with Yan Gomes and Manny Pedrozo delivering RBI hits.

Pace continued to fight early in game one, tallying another run in the top of the second to tie the game at two, but with every run the Setters had, the Bucs had an answer.

The Bucs reeled off 12 runs combined in the second and third innings to blow the game open.

A big error with two outs helped keep the Bucs up to bat in the second, they then subsequently tallied five unearned runs, with Pedrozo delivering the big blow, a three-run homer.

Yudelmis Hernandez continued the power display in the third, drilling a two-run shot to left field, Gomes kept the pressure on the Setters with a two-run double down the left field line to help give the Bucs a big lead after three.

Brad McAllister was solid in his five innings on the mound, giving up one earned run on five hits, while striking out two to record his fifth win of the year.

The second game was much tighter, as the Setters once again started the scoring as JJ Conrad knocked an RBI single through the left side for an early 1-0 lead in the third inning.

The pattern remained the same as it has been all series long against Pace for the Bucs, as they answered with a Chris Leon solo homer in the bottom of the third to tie the game.

Gomes then put the Bucs ahead in the fifth with a sacrifice fly to score Leon and put the Bucs ahead by one.

Scott Sexton and Brian Milanes would combine for the final two innings to kept the Setters at bay.
As Pace had a golden opportunity in the sixth, with runners at second and third and no outs. Sexton got Kenny Wright to ground out to first baseman Hernandez, then Joe Cotone lined out to Hernandez for the second out and Sexton completed the inning getting Pat Chaputian to ground out leaving two runners in scoring position.

Milanes then worked a perfect seventh for his third save of the season.

Charley Short (6-0) went five innings to record his sixth win of the season. He allowed just one earned run on four hits, while striking out six.

Barry will look for the four-game sweep Sunday night when they host Pace again beginning at 6 p.m.
