TAMPA, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers (28-17, 12-7 SSC) took the first game of a Sunshine State Conference series from the Tampa Spartans at the UT Softball Field on Saturday.

Amber Jack (19-9) carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, settling for the two-hit shutout. Jack walked one and struck out seven to pick up the win.

The Buccaneer bats gave Jack all the support she would need in the fourth inning as Ashley Likens and Jessica Tabor each delivered RBI doubles.

Natalie Heeley delivered a run in the sixth inning, knocking in Likens with a single.

Deanna Henriott (16-7) took the loss for the Spartans (25-9, 12-5 SSC). She allowed all three runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings. She did not issue a walk and struck out seven.

The teams will conclude the series on Sunday with a doubleheader, starting at 1:00 pm.
