Rowing Wins C Final at SIRA Championship
The Buccaneers will next compete in the SSC Championships next weekend.
OAK RIDGE, TN.— After a disappointing qualifying heat on Saturday morning, the Barry University rowing team went on to win the Varsity 8 C Final on Sunday morning.
 
The Buccaneers (cox- Priscilla Donahue, stroke- Robin Cascioli, 7- Elise Carlson, 6- Summerlin Knipe, 5- Jedidah Morrell, 4- Renee Forcier, 3- Katie Rogers, 2- Courtney Greene, bow- Kelsey Garcia) placed fourth in their qualifying heat on Friday morning, losing to teams from Texas, Central Oklahoma, and Marietta.
 
The fourth place finished positioned the Bucs in the C Semifinal race against NC State, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan State, and Xavier. The Bucs posted a finishing time of 7:27.6 to win the race, claiming the women’s varsity 8 C Final.
 
“The kids raced well,” said head coach Dave Sanderson. “But now we are looking forward to the SSC Championships next week.”
 
The SSC Championships will be held next Friday and Saturday in Fellsmere, Fla.
