WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Following a dominating performance in game one, the Bucs couldn’t get anything going in the second game, as they split a doubleheader with Rollins, winning game one 21-3 and dropping game two 1-0.

Barry (44-9, 18-6 SSC) rolled in the opener, behind seven home runs, all this came after the Bucs had been held without a home run over the past six games.

After being shutout into the seventh the night before, the Bucs tallied a pair of runs in the first before really breaking out.

The second inning came and stayed around for awhile, thanks to a seven-spot in the frame. Manny Pedrozo began things with a solo home run, Yas Gutierrez and Chris Leon added two-run homers to give the Bucs a 9-1 lead after two.

Yudelmis Hernandez added to his team lead and school record with his 21st bomb of the season, as three-run homer over the right field wall in the third. Leon nailed his second shot later in the inning, as well.
Yan Gomes continues to remain within two home runs of Hernandez, as he crushes his 19th of the season in the fourth frame.

Corey Witkowski (6-0) cruised behind the run support, as the freshman right-hander tossed six innings, allowing just one earned run, while striking out six.

Game two featured a lot less action, unless you were on the pitching mound.

Rollins’ Tim Griffin and Barry’s Bobby Hernandez matched each other in a duel the entire way.

The Tars (27-24, 10-14 SSC) threatened in almost every inning, but didn’t come through until the fourth.

A two out RBI single by Ryan Luker that just got by Yan Gomes at third plated the first run of the game.

The Bucs then tried to rally in the seventh, as Leon worked a walk with one out, then Harold Holness came in to pinch-run. Pedrozo then ripped a shot to third, but Luker handled it to turn it into a double play and end the game.

Griffin went the whole way recording the complete game shutout.

Bobby Hernandez recorded the hard luck loss, lasting 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run, while surrendering 10 hits.

The Bucs will now await word on regionals which will come out next week. Check the gobarrybucs.com website for updates and if the Bucs will capture the Sunshine State Conference title.
