Women's Golf Finishes Fifth At South Regional

HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- The Barry University women's golf team moved up one spot on the final day to finish in fifth overall at the south regional at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.

Barry trimmed fourteen shots off their second day round by shooting a 311 to finish with a 966 (330-325-311).

Nova Southeastern 912, held off Florida Southern 915 and Rollins 918 to claim the south regional title.

Anna Haglind, along with three other Bucs, fired 77's on the final round to make some moves up the leaderboard. Haglind climbed up five spots to finish in a tie for 18th with a 238 (81-80-77).

Nova's Sandra Changkija ran away with the individual title, firing a 215, four-shots better than any other challengers.

Johanna Soderstrom, who had been pacing the Bucs the first few rounds, ended up finishing in a tie for 24th after carting a 243 (80-79-84).

Lizzi Over and Isadora Stapff each continued to move up the leaderboard, as Over finished in a tie for 29th after shooting a final round 77 to post a 246 (84-85-77) and Stapff's final round 80 pushed her into a tie for 29th along with Over after shooting a 246 (85-81-80).

Cristina Coll rounded out the team scoring with a 265 (95-93-77) to finish in 42nd.

The south regional concludes the 2008-09 season for the Bucs.

Women's Golf In Sixth After Two Rounds

HOWIE-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Barry University women’s golf team sits in sixth out of nine teams after two rounds of the south regional at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort Golf Course.

Barry fired a 655 (330-325) which has the team 55 shots off the pace of Nova Southeastern which leads the regional by 13 over Florida Southern.

Johanna Soderstrom continues to pace the way for Barry, as her 159 (80-79) has her currently in 20th overall.

Florida Southern’s Heather Burgner along with Nova’s Sandra Changkija continue to lead the pack with a two-under after one round as the two are just beginning the second round.

Anna Haglind is only a few shots behind Soderstrom, as her 161 (81-80) has her sitting in a tie for 23rd.

Isadora Stapff knocked four shots off her first round to finish with a 166 (85-81) to jump from 36th to 31st overall.
Lizzi Over remained steady between rounds carting in a 169 (84-85) to currently sit in a tie for 35th.

Cristina Coll rounds out the team scoring with a 188 (95-93) which has her in 47th.

The Bucs will wrap up the regionals Tuesday morning.
