In set two, Nova stormed out to quick leads of 10-7 and 14-7 before a sound Buccaneer offense fought to keep the team within four at 16-20. The Bucs took four straight points off of three Julia Ridley kills and a Nova mistake. After earning a point back, the Bucs wrapped up the match by taking five points in a row to win 25-21.

In set three, the teams came out evenly matched, but a mid-game slump allowed the Sharks to take the set 25-16.

Set four was all Buccaneers as the team got out to an 8-2 lead with the help of a kill apiece by Ady Alcantara, Samara Ferreira, and Julia Teixiera. The Sharks didn’t help their cause, combining for a number of mistakes which allowed the Bucs to push their lead out to 22-10. After a few Nova errors and a Teixiera kill, the Bucs took the game 25-12.

For the Buccaneers, Teixiera led the offense with 14 kills while the remaining hitters combined for 34. Ridley and Spenser Rigg tallied 14 digs apiece while Ferreira helped on defense with four combined blocks. Walters added 34 assists in the win.

The Buccaneers return to action on Saturday, September 19 on the road against Palm Beach Atlantic at 3:00 pm.
