MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers fell 1-0 to the 16th-ranked Florida Tech Panthers in Sunshine State Conference women’s soccer at Buccaneer Field on Wednesday.

The game’s lone goal came for the Panthers (10-2-0, 4-1-0 SSC) in the 47th minute as Tech’s Sara Lewis fed a ball to Teresa Brantley at the top of the box. Brantley split two defenders and found the back of the net from 16 yards out.

The Bucs (2-9-0, 0-3-0 SSC) had numerous chances. Sarah Wolfer had two breakaway opportunities one-on-one with Panther keeper Melissa Pyles, but could not find the opening. In the 78th minute, Melissa Madrid beat Pyles and slipped a shot toward the goal but defender Brittany Rainbow came out of nowhere to sweep the ball off the line.

Pyles had four saves for Tech, while Emily Pratt made four stops for Barry.

The Bucs host the Eckerd Tritons on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7:00 pm
