PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—The Barry University men’s golf team topped 12 other schools to win the NSU Shark Invitational for the third straight year on Tuesday.
The Bucs fired a 14-under 850 (286-282-282) to finish in the top spot. Lynn University finished second with an 11-under 853, while the University of Indianapolis finished third with a six-over 870.
Chris Carlin led the way for the Buccaneers, winning the individual title for the second straight year. Carlin shot an opening round 75, but fired a 67 and 66 in the final two rounds to finish with an eight-under 208. Patricio Salem and Steven Brame from Lynn tied for second, each with a 211.
Guillermo Pumarol was the next highest finished for the Bucs, shooting a 215 (69-72-74). Pumarol finished tied for fifth.
Carlos Velez tied for eighth place, firing a 216 (71-73-72).
Victor Billskoog and Daniel Stapff rounded out the Buccaneer lineup. Billskoog finished tied for 13th with a 218 (72-70-76), and Stapff fired a 220 (74-76-70) to finish tied for 19th.
The Buccaneers successful fall season has not gone unnoticed as the team is ranked #1 in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Men's Coaches' Polls, released on October 13.
