MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry men’s soccer team extended their winning streak to six after a 3-1 win over the Lions of Saint Leo on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, the first goal of the match came during the 49th minute from Barry (10-4-1, 4-2-0 SSC) striker Mark Anderson. Anderson tallied his 14th goal this season. The score came from an Andres Perez and Sascha Koettig pass. Anderson worked around a defender at the top of the box and slid a shot under the Saint Leo goalkeeper unto the right side of the net.
Saint Leo forward Viktor Winknor evened the match in the 63rd minute. A Lion corner kick was headed to the top of the box where Winknor drilled a shot through traffic into the back of the net tying the game.
The Buccaneer game-winning goal came from the foot of transfer Randy Taylor. Taylor found a Joe Conkleton corner kick at the top of the box and fired a laser into the upper 90, making the score 2-1 in favor of the Bucs.
Koettig capped the scoring with an insurance goal from deep in the box and into an open net. Andres Perez served the ball into the box from 40 yards out. The ball was then headed around and deflected to Koettig who slide tackled the ball home.
Erik Mozzo had two saves for the Lions (6-7-0, 2-4-0 SSC), while Johnny Rodriguez posted his eighth win of the season, making three saves for the Bucs.
