Barry (13-10, 4-8 SSC) was down 9-6 early in set one. The Bucs fought back, tying it at 13-13 with the help of kills by Julia Teixiera and Ady Alcantara. Tied at 16-16, the Bucs took four of the next five points and a 20-17 lead. Barry went on to earn the win with five of the final six points including two kills by Alcantara.

The Knights (18-10, 5-8 SSC) took set two 25-20.

In set three the Bucs held a 20-14 lead but a number of Buccaneer errors allowed the Knights to tie it at 23-23. The Bucs fought to stay in it, but the Knight momentum proved too much, and the Bucs lost 26-24.

In set four, the Bucs and Knights were close throughout the entire game with neither team taking more than a two point lead. Tied 24-24, a Knight error and an Ady Alcantara kill gave the Bucs the set 26-24, sending the teams to a fifth and decisive set.

Set five opened with a Mallory Deneen service error, giving the Bucs a 1-0 lead. The Bucs took five of the next six points with the help of two aces by Alcantara to go up 6-1.

Barry held a four point lead through 9-5 when Lynn’s offense bounced back to tie the game at 13-13.  Yet the Bucs prevailed when Lynn’s Devon Woolard was called on a bad set, and Lovisa Johansson killed the ball for the final point, giving the Bucs the set 15-13, and the 3-2 win.

For the Buccaneers, Teixiera had 18 kills while Alcantara added 11. Lovisa Johansson aided the offense with nine kills while Milena Bukinac, Stefanie Svieven, and Samara Ferreira combined for 19. Spenser Rigg led the way on defense with 22 digs while Libby Walter added 17 and Bukinac added 16.

The Bucs return to action on Friday, November 6 at home against Rollins at 7:00 pm.
