Women's Basketball Slips Past Panthers

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University women's basketball team stole an overtime win from the Florida Tech Panthers on Wednesday night, prevailing 62-57.
 
The Panthers (8-7, 0-4 SSC) took a six point lead, 12-6, midway through the first half when Ashton McClairen hit a layup in the paint. The Bucs (10-4, 2-2 SSC) cut the lead to one, 14-13, with 2:25 remaining in the half when Mariesa Greene hit a layup off a feed from Shanna Suttington.
 
The Bucs would enter halftime down 19-17.
 
The Panthers got out to a seven point lead in the second half before the Bucs went on an 8-0 run, capped off by a Greene layup, to take a one point lead, 33-32. Neither team was able to go up by more than thee for the remainder of the half, and the game went into overtime tied 48-48.
 
Neither team showed much offense through the first three minutes of overtime as the teams combined for just 10 points.  The Bucs took a four point lead, 55-51, when Tilde Ahlin hit a three-pointer with 1:53 remaining and went on to win 62-57.
 
For the Bucs, Greene had a monster night with 32 points and 24 rebounds. Ahlin added 11 for the Bucs while Kisa Duncan chipped in with six.
 
The Bucs return to action on Saturday, January 16 when they host Nova Southeastern at 2:00 pm.
