Women's Basketball Continues Winning Ways

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University women’s basketball team fought back from a 15-point deficit to beat the Eckerd Tritons 67-62 in the Health & Sports Center on Wednesday night.
 
In the First half, both teams came out gunning as they each hit two three-pointers in the first two minutes of the game.
 
The Tritons (7-11, 1-7 SSC) stayed hot, getting out to 25-17 lead with 7:52 remaining in the first. The Bucs (15-5, 7-3 SSC) fought back, going on an 8-0 run in a minute and a half to get within two, 25-23.
 
The Tritons, however, went on a 13-4 run over the final six minutes of the half to enter halftime with a 38-27 lead.
In the second half the Tritons continued to build their momentum, getting out to a 15 point lead, 54-39, with 9:27 remaining in the game.
 
The Bucs spent the next six minutes on a 19-4 run to tie the game at 58-58 off a Mariesa Greene layup with 2:51 remaining. Greene and Shanna Suttington each had seven points in the run.
 
The Bucs took a 63-58 lead when Nadia Tijani hit two free throws.
 
In the final minute of the game the Tritons hit four of seven free throws to cut the lead to one, 63-62, before the Bucs went on to win 67-62.
 
Four players reached double digits for the Buccaneers. Greene finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Suttington scored 16; white Tijani and Adrienne Hicks had 12 and 11, respectively.  
 
The Bucs return to action on Saturday, February 6 when they host Palm Beach Atlantic at 2:00 p.m.
