MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University women’s basketball earned a big win on Wednesday evening, beating the Rollins College Tars 63-55 in the Health and Sports Center. The win avenges an earlier loss in Winter Park.
 
Both teams came out ready to play as the game was tied 10-10 with 14:01 remaining in the first half. The Tars (15-7, 7-4 SSC) pushed out to a 17-12 lead off a Brooke Burgess field goal, but the Bucs (17-5, 8-3 SSC) took eight of the next 11 points to again tie the game at 20.
 
Tied at 22-22 with 5:57 remaining, the Bucs went on a 10-7 run to enter halftime up 32-29. The Bucs and Tars combined for nine three-pointers in the first half.
 
In the opening minutes of the second half, Barry built a seven point lead, 40-33, when Adrienne Hicks drained a three-pointer.
 
The Tars fought back, taking a 47-44 lead off of an Amber Heistan three-pointer with 10:39 remaining.
 
Barry, however, used a 19-8 run, which included treys from Tilde Ahlin, Shanna Suttington, and Christina Thompson in the final minutes to defeat the Tars.
 
In the game, the Tars and Bucs combined for 17 three-pointers. Ahlin sank four-of-11 for the Bucs and Heisten hit four-of-eight for the Tars. The Bucs were 33.3% from beyond the arc and Rollins was 36% from three-point land.
 
Ahlin led the way for the Bucs with 16 points. Mariessa Greene had 14 points and eight boards, while Shanna Suttington had 12 points and dished out 7 assists.
 
The Bucs return to action on Saturday, February 13 when they travel to Nova Southeastern to take on the Sharks at 2:00 pm.
