MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers extended their winning streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep of Miles College at Buccaneer Field on Sunday, winning game one 8-0 in five innings and game two 4-2.

Brianna Smith (4-0) tossed a no-hitter in game one and Sara Broeseker drove in two runs to lead the Bucs (6-0) over the Bears (0-4). Grace Collins added two hits, including a bunt double, and scored twice and Stephany Soto also had two runs.

Taylor Newman got Barry on the board in the second inning. She singled, stole second and scored on an error.

In the third inning with Soto and Collins at third and second, Broeseker ripped a double to right field to bring both home. Jessica Tabor followed with an RBI single and, after a wild pitch, Amanda Goelz drove in Tabor with a fly ball to center.

In the fourth, Cassy Zamora led off with a triple and Kayla Monroy drove her in with a single to right. After Soto reached on a fielder’s choice and stole second, Collins singled her home and went to second on the throw. Collins later scored on a wild pitch after stealing third.

Smith walked one and struck out eight to post her first shutout of the season and her second career no-hitter. Kayla Bowmaster (0-2) was saddled with the loss. She allowed eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits and a walk in four innings.

In game two, the Bears grabbed the lead in the top of the first, but the Bucs strung together four straight hits and an RBI ground out to plate two runs and take back the lead. Newman knocked in Broeseker with a single and Tabor came in on a ground out by Sara Hipson.

Broeseker delivered a sacrifice fly to score Julia Chongarlides in the second and again in the fourth.

Paula Mackin (2-0) earned the win with four innings of two-hit ball. She gave up one run and struck out seven without a walk. Jessica Bevlin earned her first career save by working the last three innings. She allowed a run on three hits and struck out three.

Heather Goolsby (0-2) took the loss for the Bears. She went all six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks and did not record a strikeout.

The Bucs travel to the UAH Charger Chillout in Decatur, Ala., next weekend.
