MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University men’s basketball team lost a 63-65 heartbreaker to SSC-rival Lynn on Wednesday night in the Health & Sports Center.
The Bucs (16-10, 7-8 SSC) and Knights (14-12, 8-7 SSC) were closely matched throughout much of the first half, though Lynn held a slim 9-8 lead with 13:16 reaming in the first.
Barry stayed close in the final minutes, and took a 28-27 lead with 1:35 remaining in the first half off a Zack Trapp three-pointer. The Bucs and Knights would enter halftime tied 29-29.
Both teams were consistent during the second half as neither team was able to take more than a three point lead until the final seconds of the game. Tied 57-57 with 1:37 remaining, Lynn’s Brandon Kennedy hit a field goal to give the Knights the lead, 59-57.
Nearly a minute and a half went by before the Knights scored again, this time off a Jovan Robinson jumper, to take a 61-57 lead. Barry did all it could, but Lynn held on to win 65-63.
For the Buccaneers, Tony Dennison had 13 points. Bryan Chiverton chipped in with 12 and Marvin Davis and Erick Nsangou had 11 apiece.
The men return to action on Saturday, February 27 when they visit Saint Leo at 4:00 pm.
