VALDOSTA, Ga.-- The top-ranked Barry Buccaneers finished in fifth place of eighteen schools at the Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
 
The Bucs dropped three spots after shooting a 298 on the final round to finish at 295-292-298—885 (+30). The host Valdosta State Blazers shot 297 on the final round (291-285-297—873), but had enough lead to hold on for the win. Florida Southern came in second (291-300-291—882), while North Alabama (300-289-295) and Georgia College (301-291-292) finished tied for third at 884.
 
VSU’s Chad Smith won a three-way playoff with Florida Southern’s Matt Stauch and Georgia College’s Niclas Johansson to claim the individual title after all three ended at 214.
 
Barry’s Chris Carlin fired his third straight par round on Tuesday to finish two strokes back of the leaders at 216. Carlos Velez (75-71-76—222) finished tied for 15th, while Victor Billskoog was a stroke back and tied for 17th at 74-73-76—223. Daniel Stapff (74-76-78—228) and Guillermo Pumerol (82-80-74—236) completed the Buccaneer entry. Roberto Cacho (76-83-87—246) finished 89th playing as an individual.
 
The Bucs play next week at Georgia College’s Bobcat Invitational before hosting their own tournament the first week of April.
 
Men's Golf Jumps Up to Second Place At Southeastern Collegiate
 
VALDOSTA, Ga.—The top-ranked Barry Buccaneers moved up a spot to second place after round two at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

The Bucs fired a second-round 292 to sit at 11 over par (587) for the tournament and leap over first-round co-leader Florida Southern who imploded with a 300 on the second round to fall to fifth. The host Blazers continued to enjoy the benefits of their home course, shooting three-under 285 to finish the second day at even par (576). Armstrong Atlantic is one stroke behind the Bucs at 588, while North Alabama is in fourth at 589.

Chris Carlin shot even par for the second day to lead the Bucs and is tied for fourth overall at 144. Carlos Velez is two strokes back at 146 and tied for 10th. Victor Billskoog is tied for 12th at 147, while Daniel Stapff (150) and Guillermo Pumerol (162) round out the Bucs entry. Roberto Cacho (76-83—159) is tied for 74th playing as an individual.

The tournament conclude with a single round on Tuesday.

VALDOSTA, Ga.—The top-ranked Barry Buccaneers sit in third place after the first day of the Southeastern Collegiate, hosted by Valdosta State at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
 
The host Blazers are tied after one round with Florida Southern at 291, while Barry is four strokes back at 295. The quintets from Lander (297) and Armstrong Atlantic (299) round out the top five.
 
Four players, Matt Stauch and Shelton Smith from Florida Southern, Chad Smith of VSU and Niclas Johansson of Georgia College, are tied for the individual lead after firing a one-under-par 71.
 
Chris Carlin leads the Bucs with an opening round at even par 72, to tie for fifth. Victor Billskoog and Daniel Stapff are two strokes back at 74 and tied for 13th. Carlos Velez (75) and Guillermo Pumerol (82) round out the field for the Bucs.
 
The tournament continues tomorrow and concludes on Tuesday.
