Rowing Finishes Competition at Canal 54 With Another Strong Varsity 8 Showing

DAY TWO

FELLSMERE, Fla.—In conclusion of the Duals at Canal 54, the Barry rowing team took first-place finishes in every varsity 8+ event they entered.

The Buccaneers took down the University of Charleston in the Varsity 8+ Event #3 with a time of 06:38.0. In the event, Barry bested Charleston by over 00:38 seconds.

The next win for the Buccaneer varsity 8 boat was against the University of California San Diego. Barry posted a time of 07:10.1, more than 00:33 seconds better than UCSD.

The final event for the Buccaneer varsity 8 was against Florida Tech. With a time of 07:46.3, Barry beat the Panthers by 00:21.6 seconds.

The varsity 4 boat for the Bucs fell to both Nova and Florida Tech in event one, and then again in Event #11 on the day.

The novice 4 lost to Florida Tech by a mere 00:01.7 seconds.

The next event for the squad is April 3, at the Nova dual meet in Hollywood, Fla.

FELLSMERE, Fla.—The Barry University rowing team wrapped up the first day of competition at the Canal 54 Duals on Friday. The Buccaneer teams combined for a first, second, and third place finish. Like last week’s Governor’s Cup, the Canal 54 Duels are a two-day event that features dual races for varsity and novice boats.
 
In the varsity 8 event, the Bucs beat the University of Charleston with a time of 6:38.0. Charleston finished in 7:16.6.
The varsity 4+ team faced Nova Southeastern and Florida Tech and finished in third in a time of 8:23.8.
 
The novice 4+ team faced Florida Tech and narrowly lost in a time of 8:09.2. Tech edged the Bucs out in a time 8:07.5.
 
The Bucs wrap up competition at the duals tomorrow.
