Rowing Takes Third in the SIRA Championship

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.—The Barry rowing team captured a third-place finish in the varsity 8+ finals of the SIRA Championships on Sunday.

On Saturday, the women’s varsity 4+ competed for the Bucs and posted a time of 08:20.91, securing fifth place in the race. Also, on Saturday, the Barry Varsity 8+ boat took the water and won the race with at time of 06:51.80.

The final race for the varsity 4+ on Saturday resulted in a second-place finish for the Buccaneers with a time of 08:13.32. The only team to best Barry in the race was the Murray St. Racers with a time of 08:00.80.

To conclude Saturday, the varsity 8+ team competed in the AB Semifinals and finished second with a time of 06:47.02. The Buccaneers only lost to Mercyhurst by 06.02 seconds.

On day two of the SIRA Championships, the varsity 4+ boat qualified for the C Finals and took a time of 08:41.12 to finish sixth in the race.

The final race for the Bucs was the A Finals for the varsity 8+. Also, in the race were conference foes Florida Tech and Nova Southeastern. Barry beat both the SSC team in the A Finals and Finished third with a time of 07:09.40. In the finals, both Mercyhurst and Grand Valley St. had better times than Barry.

The next action for the Bucs is this weekend in the SSC Regatta on Saturday, April 24.
