WINTER PARK, Fla.—After taking a three run lead in the fourth inning, the Buccaneer bats awoke and posted 13 runs in two innings to beat the Rollins College Tars 16-3 in non-conference action on Tuesday.

Brian Santana received the starting nod and tossed 2.1 innings of no hit baseball. On the day, Santana went 6.1, giving up four hits, two runs, one walk, and two strikeouts. Santana threw just 84 pitches in the outing.

The Barry offense totaled 17 hits to Rollins’ seven in the matinée affair. Barry struck first in the fourth inning, as Yas Gutierrez, Chris Leon, and Joaquin Valdez scored to give the Buccaneers a 3-0 advantage. The Barry offense only needed two more innings to put away the Tars.

In the sixth the Bucs scored five to make it an 8-0 tilt. Then in the seventh they added eight to the tally to take the lead to 16-0.

In the seventh, Leon stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and one out. The catcher took the second pitch of the at bat yard to left for his second grand slam of the season.

Offensively, senior Nick Shaw continued his offensive excellence on a 3-5 night. Dwelly also posted a multiple hit game as he went 2-5 with two RBIs. Gutierrez had two RBIs as well and went 2-3. In the sixth inning, with Shaw on second, Gutierrez ripped a two-out two-run home run to right field. Ryan Garcia had one RBI on a solid 3-4 game at the plate.
