Men's Golf Finishes Competition At Queens
PONTE VERDE, Fla.-- The Barry University men's golf team wrapped up competition at the Queens Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Bucs played as individuals rather than as a team. Chris Carlin was the highest finisher for the Bucs.
 
Carlin posted a three-round 217 (66-77-74) for the tournament. Carlin tied for second overall.
 
Marcelo Huarte was the next highest finisher for the Buccaneers. Huarte posted a 232 (79-76-77) to tie for 30th overall.
 
Scott Smyers was two strokes behind Huarte with a 234 (77-78-79). Smyers finished tied for 36th overall.
 
Jaime Rodriguez finished tied for 47th with a 242 (83-76-83).
 
The Bucs don't return to action again until February when they take place in the Matlock Invitational.
 
DAY ONE RESULTS
 
PONTE VERDE, Fla.—Four golfers from the Barry University men’s golf team are competing as individuals in the Queens Invitational golf tournament this week. After the first two rounds of action, Chris Carlin was Barry’s highest finisher.
 
Carlin is tied for second overall after posting a 143. Carlin posted a six-under 66 in the first round and then a five-over 77 in the second round. Carlin's first round 66 ties the Barry record for the second loswet individual round. Carlin has posted a 66 twice before in his career.
 
Marcelo Huarte and Scott Smyers were the Buccaneer's next highest finishers. Huarte (79-76) and Smyers (77-78) each fired a 155 to tie for 26th overall.
 
Jamie Rodriguez rounded out the Buccaneer finishers. Rodriguez posted a 159 (83-76) to tie for 4oth. 
 
The men return to action tomorrow to finish off the tournament.
