Women's Basketball Muzzles Bulldogs For First Win

DAVIE, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers got into the win column with a 63-44 victory over the Truman Bulldogs at the women’s basketball NSU Tip-off Classic in the Don Taft University Center on Friday night.
 
The Bucs (1-2) were tied 29-29 at the break, but held the Bulldogs scoreless for the first 9:01 of the second half to build a 43-29 lead and coasted to the 19-point win.
 
Adrienne Hicks keyed the 14-0 run to start the second period with six points and finished with nine all in the period.
 
In the first half, the Bucs got 20 of their 29 points off the bench, but the starters accounted for 32 of 34 in the second period.
 
Shanna Suttington paced all scorers with 16 points for the Bucs. Hicks added nine and Danielle DeBerry, Yvonne Houston and Jen Mitchell all had eight. Breanna Daniels, with 10 points, was the only Bulldog in double figures.
 
The Bucs will face the Seahawks of Northwood University of Florida on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 2:00 pm.
