MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers torched the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 61-39 in the Health & Sports Center on Saturday afternoon to get back over .500 on the season.

Shanna Suttington led a balanced attack for the Buccaneers (4-3) with 14 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Yvonne Houston added 10 points, while Adrienne Hicks had nine and Nadia Tijani eight. Liz Fugate and Ashley Dolberry each had nine points to lead PBA (1-8).

The game was tight in the first half with five lead changes and two ties in the first 13:00 minutes. But after a Fugate jumper with 9:30 left in the period, the Bucs locked down defensively, holding the Sailfish scoreless for the rest of the half and closed the period with 12 straight points to take a 25-14 lead into the break.

The second half was anything but tight as the Bucs dominated for 20:00 minutes. They went up by 20, 47-27 with 9:21 left on a layup  by Tijani and pushed the lead to as many as 27 several times, the last on a jumper by Kisa Duncan with 2:01 to play.

The Bucs held the Sailfish to just 25.5 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers. The Bucs hit at a 45.1 percent clip and committed just 12 turnovers, seven in the first 36 minutes before clearing the bench with four minutes to play.

The Bucs host the seventh-ranked Ravens of Franklin Pierce on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 7:00 pm before taking off for the holiday.
