Women's Basketball Falls In Conference Action
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.—The Barry University women’s basketball team suffered a heartbreaking one-point loss to the Eckerd College Tritons, 44-43, on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Buccaneers (7-4, 0-2)) trailed by as many as six throughout the majority of the first half.
 
A Jen Mitchell three-pointer tied it up at 18 apiece with 4:13 remaining and a pair of Adrienne Hicks free throws gave the Bucs their first lead of the ballgame, 20-18, with 3:2o remaining n the first. The Buccaneers would enter halftime up 26-22.
 
The Bucs led throughout the majority of the second half until the 4:37 mark when Katie Rausberg hit a pair of free throws to tie it at 38-38. Both teams scored three more apiece, and ended regulation tied 41-41.
 
Yvonne Houston gave the Bucs a two point lead, 43-41, with 3:16 remaining in overtime, but a Rausberg three-pointer would be the final bucket scored as the Buccaneers fell 44-43 in overtime.
 
Jen Mitchell led the Buccaneers with 11 points while Danielle DeBerry had 9 and Yvonne Houston had 8. The Bucs return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Rollins to take on the Tars at 5:30 pm.
