WEST PALM BEACH, FLa.—The Barry University men’s basketball team dropped a 66-45 loss to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Wednesday night. The Sailfish shot 44.2 percent from the floor to help them to the win.
The Sailfish jumped out to a 10-6 lead in the early going. The Bucs kept it within five with the help of a pair of free throws by Willie Whitfield and a jumper by Vladimir Raymonvil to put the score at 13-8.
With 13:41 remaining in the first half, PBA went on a 13-0 run to take a 26-8 lead. The Bucs broke the scoreless streak with 7:42 remaining in the half when Evan White drove the lane and hit a layup.
White would score three more field goals, including a three pointer, in addition to a pair of Zack Trapp free throws, but the Bucs entered halftime down 37-19.
The Bucs outscored the Sailfish 7-2 to open the second half, cutting the lead to 44-28 with 12:09 remaining in the game. Yet PBA remained too strong, outscoring the Bucs down the stretch to take the 66-45 win.
For the Buccaneers, White led the way with 15 points while Zack Trapp had 10. The Bucs return to action on Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm when they host Lynn in the Health & Sports Center.
