VALDOSTA, Ga.—The Barry University men’s tennis team beat the Georgia College Bobcats 8-1 on Sunday afternoon to move to 5-1 on the year.
In doubles action, the Bucs won two of three flights. At number one, Max Wimmer and Quenton Vachez defeated Johan Wadstein and Jerome Loborgne 8-3. In the third flight, Sergio Velez and Ollie Lemaitre beat Tobias Rausch and Robert Angelucci 8-5. The Bucs loss in doubles came in the No. 2 spot where Leo Bernardes and Tyler Franks beat Emanuel Fraitzl and Marco Mokrzycki 9-8 (8-6).
In singles action, the Bucs took all six flights to propel them to the win. At number one singles, top-ranked Fraitzl beat Wadstein 6-4, 6-3. At singles two, #26 Wimmer beat #16 Leborgne in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5. Quentin Vachez downed Bernardes 6-4, 6-2 at number three.
Sergio Velez earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over Tobias Rausch at #4 singles. Lemaitre stayed perfect for the weekend with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Franks, and Romain Costamagna kept the Bucs perfectin singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Robert Angelucci.
The Bucs return to action next weekend in Saint Augustine when they take on Concordia on Friday, March 4.
