BOCA RATON, Fla.—The second-ranked Barry men’s tennis team took an important 6-3 win over conference rival and fourth-ranked Lynn University on Saturday afternoon.
In doubles action, the Bucs took two points. The fifth-ranked duo of Emanuel Fraitzl and Max Wimmer beat Alessandro Sarra and Vlad Cirla 8-3 at No. 1. Sergio Velez and Ollie Lemaitre downed Alex Vorin and Georgr Laffey 9-7 at No. 3. In the second flight, Marco Mokrzycki and Quentin Vachez fell 8-6 to the eleventh-ranked team of Willi Wolfer and Luca Pavanelli.
In singles action, the Bucs earned four points to help them to the 6-3 win. Top-ranked Fraitzl beat #10 Cirla 6-4, 6-4 in the second flight. Morrzycki, ranked #11, beat #9 Sarra 6-2, 6-4.
In the bottom flights, Velez and Romain Costamagna took wins at numbers five and six, respectively. Velez downed Vorin 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 at No. 5 while Costamagna beat Benji Kendall 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at #6.
The Bucs two losses in singles came at the top flight and fourth flight. In #1 singles, #26 Wimmer fell to #27 Wolfer 7-5, 6-4. Lemaitre dropped a 6-1, 6-1 match to #47 Pavanelli.
With the win, the Bucs move to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Bucs return to action tomorrow for a pair of matches, first against Saint Leo in conference action at 10:00 am, then against DIII Tufts at 2:00 pm.
