ST. LEO, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers rode an eight-run second inning to a 10-0 Sunshine State Conference softball win over the Saint Leo Lions at University Stadium on Saturday.
Brianna Smith (9-4) picked up the win in the circle with three shutout innings, scattering three walks and two hits. She also led the Bucs (19-6, 7-0 SSC) at the plate, going three-for-three with a double and three RBI. Jessica Bevlin completed the shutout with two innings of relief. She allowed two hits and struck out one.
Jessica Tabor also contributed three hits, including a double and scored twice. Amber Durkin and Alyssa Goldsmith each had two hits.
Megan Still (9-6) was tagged with the loss for the Lions (19-18, 3-4 SSC). She went 1.2 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and walk.
The series concludes on Sunday with a doubleheader, starting at 1:00 pm
