LAKE WORTH, Fla.—The 10th-ranked Barry Buccaneers dropped a 15-14 decision to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at Dave Manzo Field on Monday night.

The Bucs (27-11) jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led 14-4 after the top of the sixth inning. But the Sailfish (22-14) responded with 11 unanswered runs, capped by a RBI single by Taylor Kaprive in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Bucs jumped out on top 1-0 in the first inning. Adrian English doubled with one out and came home on a single by Dean Green.

In the second inning, Chris Leon started a four-run frame with a double. Lyndon Coleman delivered the run with a single to left. After a fielder’s choice, Drew Dwelly knocked in a run with a single and English followed with his second homer of the season.

In the fourth, the Bucs scored five more. Dwelly hit a lead-off homer and Green followed one out later with a double. Matt Petty singled to drive in Green and James Young followed with a base hit. Leon plated three with his second homer of the year.

After giving up two runs in the bottom of the fourth, Barry got them back on a two-run homer from Dwelly in the fifth.

Again in the bottom of the fifth, the Sailfish struck for two runs, but the Bucs answered with two in the sixth. With two outs, Ryan Garcia struck out, but reached on a wild pitch and Dwelly singled to right. After a passed ball, both runners scored on an error by second baseman Luis Mejia.

The Sailfish, though, scored four in the sixth, two in the seventh and four in the eighth to tie, highlighted by a three-run homer by Mejia.

The Bucs travel to Alex Rodriguez Park to face the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday, before returning home to host the Tampa Spartans in a key Sunshine State Conference matchup this weekend.
