WINTER PARK, Fla.—The Barry offense could only tally three hits in a 2-0 loss to the Rollins College Tars on Thursday.

Barry ace Manny Rodriguez took the mound and went six and a third allowing eight hits, two runs and one earned run while striking out eight.

The first run for Rollins came in the fourth inning after Brooks McMinn doubled down the right field line then scored on a Matt Petty errant throw after a diving stop.

The next Rollins run came in the seventh inning. Chris Holloway led off the inning with a double down the left field line then scored on a Nick Adams single up the middle. Then after Rodriguez walked Sean Reily to load the bases. Head coach Marc Pavao pulled Rodriguez and turned to Tyler King to salvage the inning for Barry. King struck out the next two batters to end the inning with Rollins only scoring one run.

However, the Barry bats found little success as the Rollins pitchers retired six out of the next eight Barry batters to take the win. Rollins starter Steven Gropler went seven and two thirds allowing a mere three hits with five strikeouts and five walks.

Dean Green extended his hitting streak to 19 on a 2-4 night with two singles. The only other Barry base hit came off the bat of Lyndon Coleman in the fourth inning. Coleman went 1-3 on the game.

The Bucs continue the series against Rollins with a noon start of a double header Friday, April 22. Live coverage can always be heard on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network starting at 11:30 a.m.
