BOCA RATON, Fla.—The Barry University volleyball team dropped a four-set road match to the Lynn University Knights on Wednesday night. The Bucs fell 25-22,14-25,25-15,25-17.
In the first set, the teams were even through 10-10 and later 18-18. The Knights took a two-point lead, 20-18, and maintained the lead through 24-22. Lynn took the final point off a Shannon Dugan kill.
In the second set, Barry stormed out to an 11-4 lead with the help of kills by Lanie Muys, Alicia Guerrero, Taylor Zirwas, Mariana Lisboa and a number of Knight errors. Lynn took seven of the next nine points to cut the lead to 13-11, but Barry next went on an 8-2 run to take a 21-13 lead. Lisboa, Zirwas and Morgan Howard got involved in the run. The Bucs proved too much for Lynn in the second set, taking the win 25-14.
The Knights were dominant in the final two sets, hitting .375 in set three and .381 in set four to help them to the wins, 25-15 in set three and 25-17 in set four.
Lisboa led the Bucs in the loss with 11 kills while Mima Hajdukovic chipped in with nine kills and 26 assists.
