MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University volleyball team dropped a three-set match to the Rollins College Tars on Friday evening. The Bucs led late in sets two and three, but were unable to hold off the Tars.

The first set was all Rollins (12-7, 5-2 SSC) as the Tars (12-7, 5-2 SSC) jumped out to an 8-3 lead and pushed it to 13-8 and later 19-11. The Bucs (7-7, 1-7 SSC) mustered up five more points, but Rollins took the win 25-16.

In the second set, the Tars took the first five points before Barry went on a 7-2 run to tie it at seven apiece. Taylor Zirwas served seven-straight service points which included an ace and kills by Tania Torres and Mariana Lisboa. The Bucs and Tars were back-and-forth throughout the remainder of the match with neither team taking more than a one-point lead. Up 23-22, Rollins scored the final two points for the 25-22 win.

In the third and final set, the teams were even through 5-5 before a Lisboa service ace and a pair of Tar errors gave the Bucs a slim 8-5 lead. The Bucs maintained the lead through 13-12 and traded points back-and-forth with the Tars through 18-17 before Rollins scored four straight to take a 21-18 lead. Barry would get within one multiple times, but tied 23-23; Rollins took the final two points for the win.

For the Buccaneers, Lisboa and Torres had nine kills apiece while Zirwas and Muys split 13. Libby Walter paced the offense with 22 assists and led the defense with 11 digs.
