MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The 12th-ranked Barry men’s soccer team rediscovered their offensive spark with a 6-0 blasting of Saint Leo at Buccaneer Field on Saturday night.

Six different Buccaneers found the back of the net, as the Bucs set a season-high goal output.

In the 20th minute, freshman Connor Randel took a long feed from Guilherme Oliveira and chested a shot past Lion keeper McKenzey Scott. It would prove to be Randel’s second game-winner in as many goals.

In the 41st minute, Mark Anderson took a free kick from just outside the box, hitting the post. But the rebound bounded back though the box and struck Saint Leo defender Brian Tyler, leading to a penalty kick which Anderson converted. It was his 18th goal of the season, tying Alen Marcina (2002) and Ricardo Raposo (2004) for the school single-season record.

The Bucs (9-1-3, 2-1-3 SSC) struck for four more goals in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Anderson had another free kick from just outside the box. His service looped over the wall and found Rodrigo Mancenido alone at the top of the six for the tap in. It was the senior’s first career goal.

After the Lions changed keepers in the 63rd minute, Joe Conkleton’s corner kick came down at the feet of Kendall Sealy, who had checked in just 0:27 seconds earlier. Sealy ripped a shot past new keeper Sean Jones.

In the 73rd minute, Conkleton served a long pass up to Joong Kim, creating a breakaway. Kim touch the ball around Jones and scored into the empty net.

The Bucs closed the scoring in the 87th minute. Sealy stole the ball at midfield and raced down with freshman Eyal Schechter in a two-on-two break. Sealy passed the ball square to Schechter at the top of the 18and he ripped it past Jones for the final tally and the first of his career.

Shots were even on the night at 14 for each team and Saint Leo (7-5-0, 2-4-0 SSC) held a 2-1 edge on corners. But Barry’s Johnny Rodrigues stopped six shots and got help from Lucas Noboa who made another team save to post the shutout. Scott had one save, but gave up three goals for Saint Leo, while Jones also allowed three goals without a save.

The Bucs host the Lions of Florida Memorial on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7:00 pm in their final regular season game at Buccaneer Field. Live-stat and audio broadcast will be available through the Barry University athletic website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
