MONTERREY, Calif.—The Barry University men’s golf team finished fifth at the Otter Invitational Tuesday after posting scores of 296, 296, and 301. The Bucs finished six strokes behind the leader CSU-Stanislaus who led the field with a total score of 887.

The Bucs were led by Daniel Stapff who shot a -2 under 70 on the day and finished -1 under (215) for the tournament, good for third place overall.

Also finishing in the top ten was Simon Frosslund who fired scores of 71, 73, 73 (217) and finished in sixth place, just six strokes off the leader Ben Taylor from Nova Southeastern.

Marcus Segerstrom finished 43rd, Scott Smyers 52nd and Marcelo Huarte 65th in a field of 79.

The Buccaneers will look to wrap up their fall portion of the schedule as they head to Jacksonville, FL where they will compete in the Queens Invitational at TPC Sawgrass on Oct 31st through Nov 1st.

DAY ONE RESULTS

MONTERREY, Calif.—The Barry Buccaneers, ranked number one in the GolfStat power rankings, are tied for fourth at the CSU-Monterrey Bay Otter Classic at Black Horse Golf Course after day one. The Bucs fired back-to-back rounds of 296 to sit three strokes back of the host Otters at 592.

The Otters (589) are in first, while Washburn and Nova Southeastern are two strokes back at 591 and tied for second. Cal State-Stanislaus is tied with the Bucs at 592 in fourth.

Simon Forsslund leads the Bucs with an even par 144 (71-73), tied for fifth. Daniel Stapff is one stroke back at 145 (71-74) and tied for seventh.

Marcus Segerstrom at 151 (76-75), Scott Smyers at 152 (78-74) and Marcelo Huarte at 160 (80-80) round out the Buccaneer entry.

Nova’s Ben Taylor leads the field at 139 (70-69).
