Rowing Takes A First And Second Place At Miami Mix

MIAMI BEACH, Fla.—The Barry rowing team had a first and second place finish in two races at the Miami Mix rowing event at the Shane Watersports Center on Saturday.

“It was a great day of racing and excellent preparation for the next competitions,” Barry head coach Dave Sanderson said. “We’re looking forward to next week’s race at the Head of the Hooch.”

The varsity four (Cox – Grace Horwitz, Renee Forcier, Helene Pierre, Haley Stark, Courtney Greene) took first place in their race in a time of 17:44. Miami came in second, 0:15 seconds back, followed by Nova Southeastern (18:23), Nova Southeastern-2 (19:40) and Miami’s novice crew (20:16).

In the novice eight race, Barry finished second behind Nova. The Sharks finished in a time of 12:28, while Barry (cox - Karen Kehoe, Fayebrina Gogue, Samantha McKenzie, Mandy Carper, Laura Boloix, Starasia Black, Abigail Hrinko, Sylvia Inocent, Richeneeka Saville) came in at 13:24. Miami was third in a time of 13:32.
