NICEVILLE, Fla.—The Barry University men’s basketball team dropped their second consecutive game to open up the 2011-12 season as they fell at the hands of the West Florida Argonauts Saturday.
The Bucs (0-2) have struggled out of the gate losing to West Alabama in their season opener before falling to West Florida by a final of 65-58.
After trailing by just six at the half, the Bucs remained within striking distance for much of the game but were not able to overtake the Argonauts down the stretch. Chad Renfro paced the Bucs with 21 points, while Evan White chipped in 11 and Justin McCoy added ten.
The Bucs struggled from beyond the arch shooting just 26% (5-19) and they lost the battle of the boards as West Florida out-rebounded Barry 48-39.
The Buccaneers return to action this Wednesday for their home opener when they host the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at the Health and Sports Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. with live video broadcast as well as live-stats available through the Barry University athletics site, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
