Barry University's No. 4-ranked women's tennis team won a pair of matches Saturday, beating host Saint Leo, 5-4, before rolling over Eckerd College, 9-0.

Barry (3-0, 2-0 Sunshine State Conference) played a morning match at Saint Leo before heading to St. Petersburg to complete the two-win day in a sweep at Eckerd.

Linda Fritschken and Akemi Maehama combined to win Barry's only doubles match against the Lions at the No. 2 spot. Barry lost the top two singles flights, but picked up wins from Fritschken at No. 3, Olivia Matuszak at No. 4, Julie Stas at No. 5 and Maehama at No. 6.

At Eckerd, Barry shuffled its lineup in a dominating performance. Fritschken beat Gipson Hawn, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot. Sarah Krohnen beat Carson Trapp, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2. Matuszak beat Amy Naula, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3. Maehama beat Taylor Bullock, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4.

No. 21-ranked Cristina Valladares beat Erika Fridrick, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5. Lizbeth Vargas beat Katie Benn, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6. 

Matuszak and Stas beat Hawn and Fridrik, 8-3, at No. 1 pairs. Valladares and Krohnen breezed to an 8-0 win over Naula and Bullock. Vargas and Maehama beat Trapp and Benn, 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Barry hosts Florida Southern next Saturday and Tampa next Sunday.
