SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Barry University men's tennis coach George Samuel likes to tinker.

Friday he continued to tinker with his lineup as the No. 2 Buccaneers went on to a 6-3 win over No. 14 Georgia College at Armstrong Atlantic Tennis Facility.

The Buccaneers (9-1) won four singles matches and two doubles en route to another non-conference win that Samuel said is gearing his men up for what could be a showdown if weather permits 10 a.m. Saturday against No. 3 Armstrong Atlantic. The match was moved up to try to avoid weather.

No. 8 nationally-ranked Marco Mokrzycki beat No. 13 Jerome Leborgne, 7-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles in the marquee match of the day.

Romain Costamagna battled to a 7-6, 7-5 win over Kasper Konyves at No. 4, and Leo Vivas fought his way by Alex Schubert, 7-5, 7-5 at No. 5. Ollie Lemaitre beat Tyler Francks, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6.

"It was a good preparation match for us for what's coming tomorrow," Samuel said. "We keep experimenting with the doubles combinations."

With weather forecasts suggesting an 70 percent chance of rain for Saturday, Barry and Armstrong Atlantic may not play. If they do, it's the type of championship match the Bucs gear up for year-in and year-out.

"Both teams have a lot of respect for each other," Samuel said. "We're kind of a championship-type team. These are the matches we play for."

Mokrzycki and Vivas beat Tyler Franks and Konyves, 8-4, at No. 2 pairs. Lemaitre and Costamagna, which have become a solid combination together, beat Wictor Andersson and Leo Bernardes, 8-3, at No. 3 doubles.

"We keep improving," Samuel said. "I'm optimistic about what this team can do. Everybody on the team was tested. They had to produce."

If Barry and Armstrong Atlantic are not able to play Saturday, the Bucs will still play Augusta State on Sunday before returning to Miami Shores.
