WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--Jordan Wellander (2-2) allowed one run in five innings of work and the JoJo Bellot drove in three late, as Barry was able to dispose of the University of the Sciences 9-1 Sunday afternoon at the Santa Luces Complex.

The Buccaneers (5-8) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the third, and that would prove to be enough for Wellander who bounced back with a strong performance after struggling in his last outing.

After taking the early lead, Barry kept the pressure on the Devils scoring runs in the fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings. Michael Slabach, Luis Arrizurieta, Tim Blackmon and Harold Holness each had two hits for the Bucs, who finished with 14 in the afternoon.

Bellott entered the game in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter with the bases loaded and the sophomore delivered with a bases clearing triple down the right field picking up his first hit of the year.

Dan McMahon (0-1) was tagged with the loss after surrendering 11 hits and five runs in seven innings of work for the Devils.

Kevin Youst pitched three innings in relief allowing zero runs and striking out four, and Tyler Pestch worked a scoreless ninth to seal the victory for the Bucs.

Barry will continue their non-conference action when they host the University of Northern Iowa Monday afternoon at Feinbloom Field.

Live-stat and audio broadcast will be available through the Barry University athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
