VALDOSTA, Ga.-- As much as the Buccaneers tried to play catch-up, North Alabama was a runaway winner.

Barry men's golf team finished second at the Southeastern Collegiate tournament Tuesday. The 14-team, 75-player field hosted by Valdosta State University had all the makings for a classic finish entering Tuesday's third and final round. But North Alabama's four golfers who scored each shot in the 60s in a dynamite day on the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

Third-ranked Barry shot a final-round 287, equalling its second-round score that had them sitting in second entering the final 18 holes. But North Alabama lit up the course with a 274, finishing 14 strokes better than the Bucs, who were six strokes better than third-place Lynn.

North Alabama's Tyler Chandler won the event with three straight rounds in the 60s for a 13-under 203. Barry's Daniel Stapff, the school career victories leader, finished tied for fourth following a 1-under 71 Tuesday to cap the two-day tournament at 210.

Barry's Marcus Segerstrom and Marcelo Huarte tied for seventh at 212. Sergerstrom shot 1-under in the third round, while Huarte was 1-over. Teammates Scott Smyers and Simon Forsslund shot 224 and 225, respectively.

North Alabama's Jake Greer and Lynn's Marcelo Rozo tied for second at 8-under 208.

The Bucs travel to Georgia College’s Bobcat Invitational next week before hosting their own Buccaneer Invitational the following week.
