Barry's rowing team opened the season Saturday with a win over Emory at the Governor's Cup in Fellsmere, Fla., on a day with a headwind that varied from 3 to 5 miles per hour.
The Buccaneers varsity 8 outraced Emory in the 13th event of the Cup hosted by Florida Tech. Barry posted a time of 7:28.8. Emory finished in 7:41.0.
Barry finished behind Columbia's #2 boat in the varsity 8 race on the Canal 54 course. Barry had a time of 7:05.4. Columbia won in 6:48.9.
Against Columbia in the varsity 4 event, Barry rowed to a time of 8:20.2. Columbia won the race in 7:42.0.
The Buccaneers will race again next Saturday at Canal 54.
