DAVIE, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis team completed a run through the regular season without a blemish.

The No. 2 nationally-ranked Buccaneers beat Nova Southeastern Saturday to finish the regular season with a 19-0 overall, 8-0 Sunshine State Conference record.

"It was good to finish the regular season and the conference season unbeaten," fourth-year Bucs coach Avi Kigel said. "We look forward to the conference tournament."

Barry enters Thursday's Florida Blue Sunshine State Conference Women's Tennis Championships at Beerman Tennis Center in Lakeland, Fla., as the No. 1 seed.

Playing in heavy winds, Barry, ranked No. 1 in the South Region, swept the doubles matches and all but one of the singles flights.

Cristina Valladares and Mona Mansour beat Nova's Alexandria Johansson and Austin Lavalli, 8-2, at the top pairs spot. Julie Stas and Olivia Matuszak defeated Dominique Wimmer and Charlotte Cote, 8-3, at No. 2. Linda Fritschken and Caroline Wendling beat Daria Burobina and Bianca Roberts, 8-6, at No. 3.

Stas beat Wimmer, No. 44 in the nation, 7-5, 3-6, 10-7 at No. 2 singles. No. 38 Matuszak beat Roberts, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3. Wendling beat Burobina, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 4.

Sarah Krohnen outlasted Cote in an extended No. 5 singles match, winning 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 10-3. Akemi Maehama defeated Lavalli, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 6. Maehama improved to 10-0 this season.
