MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers finished what they started on Friday, completing a sweep of the Lynn Fighting Knights in Sunshine State Conference softball action at Buccaneer Field on Sunday, winning the suspended game 10-0 in five innings and taking the finale 4-0.
Leading 6-0 after two innings thanks to a grand slam homer from Alyssa Goldsmith on Friday night, the Bucs (37-9, 16-5 SSC) picked up Sunday where they left off against Knight starter Kasey Murray (0-14) scoring two runs in each of the third and fourth frames after Murray walked the bases loaded both times. Sarah Broeseker had a two-run single in the third, while Kayla Monroy drew a walk with the bases loaded and Natalia Ojeda had an infield single to drive in runs in the fourth.
Alexis Yohe (14-4) earned her third shutout of the season, holding the Knights to just three hits and struck out six in just five innings of work. Murray pitched her second complete game of the season, but allowed 10 runs on seven hits and eight walks.
In the finale, Brianna Smith (20-5) picked up her 20th win of the season and 13th shutout as the Bucs won 4-0. Smith scattered three hits and walk one while striking out eight.
Broeseker provided the offense with a three-run homer, her fourth of the season to take the team lead, in the second inning and went 3-for-4. Jessica Tabor added an RBI single in the first.
Missy Montgomery (2-18) took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks and struck out one.
The Bucs close the regular season next weekend with a three-game set against the Eckerd Tritons at the Turley Athletic Complex.
