TAMPA, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers bowed out of the NCAA Division II South Region Softball Tournament after dropping an elimination game to the Tampa Spartans 2-0 at Vince Naimoli Family Field on Saturday.

Kayla Cox (16-1) tossed her third no-hitter of the season and struck out 15 to lead the Spartans (37-7) over the Bucs.

Brianna Smith (22-7) took the loss for the Bucs. She allowed five hits and walked two while striking out three in a complete game.

The Spartans scored twice in the third inning when they connected for three of their five hits. Brie Walton walked to lead off the inning. Susan Jallo plated the first run with a double to left center. One out later, Becky Vyzas drove home Jallo with a single to right.

The Bucs had their chance early as Cox walked two of the first three batters. But she struck out Alyssa Goldsmith and Jessica Tabor to close out the frame and set the Bucs down in order the rest of the way.

The Bucs close the season 40-11.
