Lemaitre, Lombardi Roll into Semis at Men's Tennis Event

AVENTURA, Fla. -- Barry University men's tennis players Ollie Lemaitre and Renato Lombardi are on a collision course for the Nunez Open singles championship.

Lemaitre advanced to Sunday morning's 10 a.m. semifinals with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Barry teammate Kevin Sielmann in the quarterfinals. Lombardi beat fellow Buccaneer Eduardo Alfonzo, 7-6, 6-4 to reach the semis.

Lemaitre, a junior from New Calendonia, outlasted Andres Alfonzo 6-3, 7-6 (11-9), 6-3 in his first match Saturday. Lombardi, a newcomer to the Bucs, had a 6-3, 6-3 opening-round win.

Eduardo Alfonzo won his opening-round match, 7-5, 6-1. Andres Alfonzo beat Sielmann 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. 

Lemaitre will play Mark Losev, a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Barry's Romain Costamagna, in the first semifinal. Lombardi meets an independent competitor in the other semi.
